Some guidelines from the Miniature Poodle Club:
A ‘Pedigree’ does not ensure ‘Registration’. Registration is a requirement for
firstly exhibiting a dog in the show ring and secondly for breeding on from it.
Registration documents from the Kennel Club do serve a very useful purpose in
confirming the dates and results of PRA tests of the sire and dam of any puppy,
but it should be noted that BVA/KC tests must be carried out annually and even
then cannot be given too much significance if the sire/dam are under 5 years of
age (this is because PRA is often not clinically visible until this age). The
Optigen DNA tests are much more definitive and therefore a much better option.
